Amethyst
Amethyst deals with our spiritual well being, if you’re seeking spiritual
development and enlightenment, wear or carry an Amethyst crystal.
This stone calms the spirit and helps you deal with the traumas of life; it is good for pain in any part of the body and good for the immune system.
A stone of transformation and change, it helps us to bring change into our lives, is good for headaches, insomnia, nightmares, grief and addictive behaviours.
As this stone is known as an elevator, it is said to lift our spirits and enhance inspiration and intuition.
In the Middle Ages it was used as a charm against infectious diseases.
Amethyst has always been associated with Bacchus, goblets encrusted with the stones were claimed to prevent drunkenness. In fact the Greek word amethustos means, literally “non drunken”.
Those who could not afford such valuable goblets dropped a single stone into their wine, however I don’t think it’s worth the risk if you’re driving!
They also believed that an Amethyst would change colour if it were placed against poisoned food.
Purple relaxes the mind, raising it to a different plane.
Amethyst placed by the bed or under the pillow calms and soothes us helping us to sleep and bring intuitive dreams.
